The aim of this special session is to present the advances in the fields of modelling the hydro-meteorological time series. Time series analysis is usually time-consuming and computationally intensive, especially when hard computing methods are used. On the contrary soft computing methods (as neural networks, support vector machines, metaheuristics evolutionary computing / genetic programming, fuzzy logic, nonparametric approaches, modelling and prediction techniques) can be used in order to obtain a better balance between speed and accuracy of the models. Submissions reflecting theoretical methods and new highly experimental works in the field of statistical analysis and modelling of hydro-meteorological time series and that use the publicly available databases are especially encouraged.
Suggested topics of this special session include but are not limited to:
• Parametrical versus non-parametric approaches in hydro-meteorological data modelling
• Critical evaluation and comparisons of alternative approaches for hydro-meteorological series modelling
• New techniques for spatial data analysis applied in hydro-meteorology
• Hydro-meteorological software for data analysis – development and applications
• Soft computing and fuzzy techniques for trend and seasonality detection;
• Forecasting hydro-meteorological series
